Confidence is the best Outfit. Rock it and Own it.

I recently posted a picture on Instagram with a caption that had caused, let's say a bit of a debate. So, the picture was of me and the caption simply stated that I loved the pic of myself, because everything from hair to outfit was perfect. Nothing out of the ordinary, yet people decided to twist my innocent, little caption into something so absurd and ridiculous: 'I wouldn't call you perfect' or 'Who do you think you are to call yourself perfect, you ain't no Queen B'.

Firstly, there is no such thing as THE perfect women, we are all perfect in our own way and we certainly shouldn’t be put down for showing some confidence or body positivity. Secondly, when on earth have I ever compared myself to Queen B? That’s just ridiculous.

Despite the negative comments, I also received many positive, inspirational and just amazing ones that supported my caption: Self-love is so important and one can only give love to others if they love themselves - there is nothing wrong with showing a bit of vanity here and there.

I by far am not perfect, but I've accepted myself. Yeah, I really hate my wonky knees but unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about them. But guess what? Accepting yourself and loving yourself for whom you are is so much easier than hating on your body all the time. I'm finally at a stage where I don't care about the negative comments people have to say about me. It just shows what kind of people they are and I sure as hell am better than that.

FYI, my Instagram feed is a place of positivity, so if you wanna be stupid you'll be blocked immediately. There is no mercy. Trust me.

The fine line between Confidence and Vanity

‘The line between vanity and confidence is one of these contrasting ideas. One is something to avoid at all costs while the other is something to strive for but this line is often difficult to walk.

Self-confidence is all about being happy with yourself, your own goals, achievements and feeling comfortable in your own skin. You will be able to ignore negatives that people throw at you and it will not put you down. Yes, it can hurt from time to time, but I mean, after all, that’s what makes us human, right? Most importantly, it won’t get in the way and just helps us grow as a person even more. A healthy self-image is in fact so necessary that it can be hard for people to accept love from others if they don’t love themselves. Learning to love yourself despite your flaws will inspire others around you, self-appreciation and believing in yourself is the kind of confidence every person should work towards too. Vanity is just self-obsession and absorption, all they work towards to is their own needs and desires. They can’t help others because all that matters to them is themselves - so please, don't be that person.

My thought is people who are self-confident love themselves on the inside no matter what the outside is. People who are vain love themselves on the outside but have no love on the inside. Caring for others comes from the inside which is why people who are vain think only of themselves.

Yes, a bit of vanity here and there is good. But don’t let it get the better of you.

  11. I can't believe people posted those replies to your photograph, that was just mean. I hate the concept of vanity because it basically means 'a person thinks they are better than they are' - which is so stupid because who is to judge a person's worth?

  12. Wow! Who were these rude people, how dare they be so judgmental, confidence is one of the most beautiful assets that a person can have and you are beautiful and nice. What is wrong with knowing who you are? xxx

  13. You look great! I think if you are accepting of yourself and what you can't change (and not beating yourself up over it), then it naturally leads to feeling more confident.
