Blogging 101: How to run a blog, grow your following and have a full-time job - Balancing is key.

Like most other bloggers I also have a full-time job and still go to Uni as well, whilst trying to make a career as a blogger. It's hectic, stressful and includes a shit-ton of a good time management.
I'm not gonna lie when I say at times I just wanna quit. It would make everything easier, I would have a proper social life again and would actually have something like a 'weekend' - erm, what's that again?? But then again, blogging is fun and it has given me something to focus on during my placement year. It has given me something like a career.

There is no real recipe to success, but good time management is essential.

I'm not one to preach when I often can't keep up myself, but I do feel like I have some sort of an idea on how to do it - just means I actually have to follow my own rules for once. It's an amazing feeling when everything is done and you can have an evening to yourself or just go to bed before 12 pm for once.
Anyway, if you are struggling with work and blogging, have a read and let me know what you think below:

Schedule:Thank god for buffer and HootSuite, they are a life saver. It's impossible to sit on Twitter or Facebook all day and share blog posts or engage with fellow bloggers if you work full time. So why not use an application that does it all for you? Sit down once a week and schedule your posts or do it once a month, whatever works for you. But at the end of the day, with a third party application, you never have to worry about promoting your blog on the day.

Blogging is like me time:I have started to consider as writing a blog post as 'me time'. It's something I enjoy doing and helps me reduce stress. To be really honest, I was having a really bad day when I wrote this and had a massive crisis whilst writing it. But now I'm half way through it and feel so calm and relaxed. Don't just see your blog as a job, it's so much more than that. Remember why you are doing it when it gets too stressful. You started for a reason so always remember that. If it's too much try to remove some pressure from yourself. Don't post 3 times a week, twice is enough too.

Don't forget to live:There is so much more to life than your blog. Remember to spend time with friends and family. Make yourself your highest priority. If you don't feel like writing a blog post then don't do it. Being happy will shine through your quality of work. Always remember to make time for yourself - Life will always be more important.

Ask for help if needed:Don't be ashamed if you feel a bit overwhelmed. Ask friends or family for some advice and help.

  1. I totally get this, my life is taken over by my 'job' which is social media for ethical brands, and my 'me' blog/social media... sometimes I just want to walk away too! I went 8 days without posting on my own instagram feed this week and was panicking... I need to get out more! :)

  5. These are great tips! Have you tried Social Oomph? I've just discovered it, and I love it so much. It's like Buffer & Hootsuite combined! I don't work full time, but I do have two little one to take care of all day every day, so I only really have from the time they go to bed, to the time I go to bed to do any sort of blogging. I definitely have to plan my time, otherwise nothing would ever get done!

  7. I've been feeling so stressed about my blog lately because I don't feel it's as good as it could be and I just don't have as much time as I used! I literally just wanted to delete it the other day- but obviously I knew I would regret that. Thanks for the suggestion to treat blogging as 'me time', hopefully that will make me more inspired to write some more posts. I've pinned this post so hopefully other people will see it :)

  10. Great post, I find it so difficult to keep up as I'm always lots of different projects at once. I've now started to write my posts up a head of time, which I find helps.
