Blogging 101: A Blogger's Best-friend, The Tripod.

Blogging 101: Sometimes all you need is a tripod.

We all know that feeling when we desperately need some pics but our friends are busy, the boyfriend is too (or you don't even have one) and not everyone knows a photographer as well. But who even needs a second person anyway? We can do it ourselves - be that boss girl and think of alternatives. Alternatives like a tripod or even a wall.

We can all do it with a little bit of practice, it's not that hard and also kind of fun. But be prepared for odd looks, weird comments and people trying to join in.

How to take blogger photos

1. Find a quiet place. Not only so the photo doesn't have strangers in it, but also because you don't want to be scared of someone stealing your camera. You also want to feel comfortable, because I think it reflects in photos if you don't feel 100%.

2. Have a good tripod - or sturdy surface. I love my tripod, it has saved so many last-minute projects of mine. There are so many different varieties like spider ones which you could even wrap around a streetlight and fits into any bag!

I got mine for free when I purchased my 6D and is amazing. It's tall enough to give me that perfect angle and I can customize all three legs as well - the perfect freebie.

3. Capturing Details is easy. I love detail photos and it's so easy with a tripod, just stand a bit closer and press that button and perfect. You can also take close up photos of your shoes by just lowering the tripod legs.

4. Autofocus is much easier. When I take flatlays I swear on manual focus but when it comes to taking photos of myself using the autofocus is so much easier.

5. You have the control. I had quite a few catastrophic photo shoots in the last year, from one guy even turning up drunk. When you take your own photos you have control of everything; from angles to editing and what pics you want.

Final Tip, you can get a remote trigger which means your camera will take a photo when you press the button - so no need for timer and standing in the same pose for 10 seconds.

Another FYI, my camera is WIFI enabled and connects to my phone. I remote control it via an app and immediately receive all the photos on my phone - yes to technology.

  2. I feel like I need to learn to take photos myself in case I end up without a photographer which is a scary thought. Perhaps you can teach me, a tripod would definitely be useful!

  9. Technology is so fantastic! I completely agree with you about having a tripod and knowing how to take your own photos. Even if you have a photographer, knowing how to do it yourself is always a good idea and will save you in unforseen circumstances.

  12. I really need to get myself a remote for my camera - if I want to use my tripod at the moment, my current technique is hitting the button with a stick, which has got many odd looks.

  14. I can't wait until I can invest in a really good camera. I have a tri-pod (cheap one) but I know I will have to upgrade in the future.
